Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Program (2005)
"Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Support to Combat HIV/AIDS and other Infectious Diseases borne by South Africa’s Military Personnel"
This is a pilot study designed to facilitate the adoption of electronic information and telecommunications technologies as clinical and educational tools for HIV/AIDS management within the South African National Defense Force. Partners include the South African Medical Research Council’s Telemedicine Research Center, and Sojourner-Douglass College of Maryland.

Organizing and sponsoring conferences to facilitate the dissemination and exchange of relevant medical and public health information has played an important role in IME’s mission. IME's educational conferences have been held, in cooperation with the United States Department of Health & Human Services, the World Health Organization, the Medical Research Council of South Africa, the Georgetown University Medical Center, the African Telehealth Educational Project, and the National Medical Association of United States, and others, in Nairobi, Kenya; in Sun City and in Cape Town, South Africa.
